The agave used in all Parch products is the highest quality Mexican Blue Weber Agave grown in the organic fields of “Los Altos de Jalisco” (highlands of Jalisco). The current agave crop is 5-6 years old, the ideal age for agave pinas to be mature and ripe for harvest . The agave we use is grown sustainably because no pesticides are used and when the agave pinas are harvested and cut (by Jimadores and not heavy equipment), the leaves cut off the pina are left to fertilize the soil and reduce erosion for future harvests
We do not recommend consumption by children. Consult your doctor or a knowledgeable healthcare professional if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, breastfeeding or immunocompromised before taking adaptogenic herbs. If you’re taking prescribed medication, integrative health experts suggest talking with your doctor or consulting a naturopath or herbalist before adding any adaptogens into your routine. Certain adaptogens may react with the effects of your other medications.
We try our best to source most of our ingredients domestically but a few are imported due to their superior quality.
Dr. Brekhman (the pharmacologist who defined the term “adaptogen”) defined adaptogens as substances from nontoxic plants (often herbs) that have been found to help our bodies manage stress and maintain balance, or homeostasis. By strengthening our internal systems, specifically our adrenals (the glands that manage our hormonal response to stress), adaptogens can promote vitality, stabilize mood, improve performance and help manage anxiety and fatigue. Adaptogens are meant to help our bodies build resilience to stress and mitigate its further affects on the body. They are not a cure or a quick fix, and they may not work in extreme or immediate cases of anxiety or depression.
The 3 adaptogens selected for Parch were chosen by our naturopathic doctor for their complementary effects. Ashwangandha is an anti-inflammatory that supports stress relief by lowering cortisol to aid relaxation. American Ginseng is an antioxidant that boosts the immune system and helps protect against stress. L-theanine (from green tea) promotes wakeful relaxation without feeling drowsy. Overall they work together to enhance your body’s ability to manage stress and maintain balance. Past versions of Parch include GABA, a nootropic, that we have since removed in compliance with Whole Foods standards. Although WF sell GABA as a supplement they have yet to approve it in drinks & food products.
Each can of Parch contains 185mg of active adaptogens. L-Theanine: 50mg, Ashwagandha: 35mg, American Ginseng: 100mg
We purposefully designed these drinks to be sessionable, packed with goodness & absent of anything harmful. But it is recommended not to exceed 5 cans per day.
However you'd like, but we recommend chilled straight out of the can, or poured over ice. Garnish with fresh or dehydrated citrus and a salt rim is always nice.
Parch cocktails have an 18 month shelf life (unopened), but are best stored and consumed straight from the fridge.
All Parch products start by roasting and pressing Mexican Blue Weber Agave Piñas. The resulting aguamiel extract is transformed into agave nectar and agave inulin plant fiber. All Parch products also use agave bitters in their unique formulations.
All our ingredients are 100% plant based & natural. We source Organic where available including Organic Blue Weber Agave & Inulin. All our juices are GMO free.
These other flavors are part of our proprietary Citrus (Grapefruit) Bitters, Mole Bitters and Botanical Blends. These additional plant-based Natural Flavors are the ingredients to make these bitters and give our cocktails their unique taste & characteristic mouthfeel. In Prickly Paloma they include Thyme, Orange Peel & Clove. In Spiced Piñarita they include Cocoa Nibs, Cinnamon, Tarragon and Chili pepper.
To be in line with Whole Foods formulation policies. Although WF sell GABA as a supplement they have yet to approve it in drinks & food products.
